Basketball Tournament: January 5, 2008


Purpose:

The Cambridge Public School Foundation was organized for charitable and
educational purposes benefiting Cambridge Public Schools. To assist us in
these endeavors, the foundation is ready to receive contributions and gifts.


What the Foundation is about:

Innovative Project Grants: The Cambridge School Foundation provides funds
to teachers enabling them to provide educational opportunities for students.


Scholarships:

Scholarships for students. The Foundation manages funds from family bequests
to be given to graduating seniors.


Activities:

The Foundation sponsors a Youth Basketball Tournament in January for their
primary fundraiser.


Cambridge School Foundation Officers:

Treasurer: Mr. Joseph Sheldon


Types of Donations:

  • Direct Gift- Gift donations, cash, securities, personal property, or real estate.

  • $100 Annual Membership- a great way to support quality education each year. Funds will be used for scholarships, teachers endowment, or other special funds.

  • Recognition Gifts- Cash gifts to honor a person or a special occasion.

  • Memorial Gifts- Money donated to honor a deceased relative or friend.

  • Bequests- a gift given through a will including:
    ~Special Bequest- donor specifies a dollar amount or percentage
    of the estate to be transferred to the Foundations.
    ~Contingent Bequest- the assets of the estate are transferred to the
    Foundations previously named if the beneficiaries
    are no longer living.
    ~Residuary Bequest- after all specific bequests have been satisfied,
    the Foundation receives all or a portion of
    the remaining estate assets.
    ~Special Endowment Fund- Cash donation or bequests of $2,000.00
    or more may be given to establish a special scholarship
    in the name of a donor or loved one.


  • Life Insurance- This allows donors to change their premium dollars into charitable contributions by assigning benefits to the Foundation. Premiums may be tax-deductible and the policy benefits may be exempt from estate taxes.
