In Piecing Your Career, students will be exploring career
opportunities in various communities, learning the necessary skills
required for a specific career, interviewing professionals about
their career while using the internet, and discovering careers of the
future. The project is designed to enhance a career curriculum for
students grades 6-10, but can be adapted for students at any grade
level.
Each piece of the wheel links to different career related activities. The activities are designed to be completed in approximately 10 class sessions or the project can be expanded for futher learning, and the activities can be completed in any order.
In The 'Surface' of Alaska
Project, students communicated with Bill Surface, a recently
retired teacher from Hildreth, NE, who travelled to Alaska in August
and September, 1996. He stayed in an extremely remote location and
students had the opportunity to ask questions of Mr. Surface, as well
as read about his experiences.
This project began August 1996, and ended in September1996, but the information is still available to read to help aid any curriculum you would like to apply it to

project
This project should help students understand the differences and similarities of individuals living in Nebraska. It should also prepare students for associations with people outside their own communities and cultures.
Schools signing up for this project will be partnered with a school from another community.
